For some reason Easter has become synonymous not only with chocolate but also chicks and bunnies which has led to chicks and bunnies being exploited to the full.
We are opposed to the hatching of chicks in schools due to the unnatural and often very unsuitable living conditions the chicks find themselves in.
The buying of bunnies does accelerate around Easter and then not surprisingly many people who have bought their bunny from a breeder or pet shop, garden centre etc then turn to a rescue to dispose of now unwanted bunny.
Over 60,000 rabbits are abandoned in the U.K every year, exact figures aren't known but many in the rescue charity section believe this number to be far higher.
Rabbits are NOT starter pets, they are complex creatures, just like all creatures are. They need lots of space, care, good food, clean water and company. Rabbits in pairs need to be neutered and rabbits need to be in pairs, they are sociable critters.
Please rescue rabbits and any other creature as there are so many needing homes.
